The historic red brick Gothic Revival style Sandpoint depot was constructed in 1916 and is the oldest former Northern Pacific Railway (NP) depot still in active use in Idaho—and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973. Closed to the public since 2009 due to safety concerns, the building was reopened to passengers in the spring of 2015 following a complete rehabilitation of the exterior and the passenger waiting room. Construction included repointing of the brickwork, reinforcement of the walls, installation of a new roof, and comprehensive renovation of interior spaces to bring them into compliance with ADA guidelines
